On this course you will learn how to create a small to medium sized birch bark container using natural resources found in the woods. At the end of the day you’ll be able to take home your finished work.The course also covers a number of other crafts from birch bark together with other traditional uses for this wonderful material.
The timeless craft of working with birch bark stems back thousands of years through human history and can seem complicated and fiddly to the untrained eyes and hands. This course has been designed to guide total beginners step by step through all stages of the making process making it easier to understand.
Students will be shown a series of practical demonstrations throughout the day and will receive individual guidance whenever needed. No previous experience necessary as you will learn various techniques including pattern making, processing and gathering materials. You will gain the knowledge/confidence needed to continue and further your skills in this craft.
